What it means to do right by your horse

We are so grateful to have been able to support the owner of this very loved horse with our Humane Euthanasia grant. She was a retired school horse and her health issues were not disclosed to the purchaser. Her new owners devoted themselves tirelessly for months to her care with the support of their vet and farrier but sadly she did not improve. They made the heartbreaking decision to give her the Last Act of Kindness.

Her story is one of being sold off to unsuspecting new owners but she was one of the lucky ones. Instead of doing the very same thing when they realized her health issues, they loved her enough to do right by her. For that we are very grateful to them as no doubt she is as well.
