The love between a man and his horse

Most horse people are women and in fact, all of our grant applications so far have been from women. So we were incredibly touched to receive an application from this gorgeous geldings owner. He clearly loved his horse, working hard all week and only able to see him on the weekends. They were together for 5 years and no doubt he will feel the loss of his horse deeply.

He had painful arthritis in his hind legs and was no longer able to easily get up from lying down. It was time to set him free from his painful body and he was given the Last Act of Kindness.

We are grateful to his owner for doing right by him. No doubt if he had sent him to auction he would have ended up in the slaughter pipeline. We are pleased to have been able to support him with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
