Sweet, gentle Pearl

We were saddened when we received the grant application for Pearl from Hopeful Hooves Equine Rescue. She was rescued from the meat pen in February 2026. They knew she was old but they were surprised to learn she was 32! When her winter coat had shed out they discovered a couple of brands and were able to learn her year of birth. It is very disheartening to see senior horses caught in the slaughter pipeline. Too often they have given their lives to their people only to be discarded when they need them the most. 😓💔

We are very grateful Pearl was able to spend her last few months at Hopeful Hooves. They gave her all the care she needed. And when the time came that it was clear her body was too tired to go on, they lovingly gave her the Last Act of Kindness. Every horse deserves a peaceful and dignified end. We are thankful for our donors who made it possible for us to provide them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
