Prince

Prince was rescued by The Little Red Barn Sanctuary two years ago when they saw an emaciated gelding listed for sale on kijiji. The owners purchased him thinking he was approximately 15 but he was actually much older. They wanted to sell him but eventually asked the Little Red Barn Sanctuary to take him or they would send him to auction.

Prince was a quiet gentleman who brought a great sense of calm and wisdom. While they didn't know his history, his rescuers could imagine him as a police horse ... strong, confident and unafraid.

In June, Prince began to lose weight. He needed extra dental care and xrays revealed he had a cracked tooth with no roots, leading the vet to believe he was over 30. A follow up appointment was scheduled but before that could happen, late one night Prince went into heart failure. He was lovingly given the Last Act of Kindness.

We are so grateful the Little Red Barn Sanctuary took him in saving him from likely ending up in the slaughter pipeline. We were pleased to have provided them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
