Monkey

We are so grateful to Freedom's Gate Equine Rescue Society for so many reasons. Today's story is about Monkey and all they did for her and her people.

Monkey was surrendered to the rescue in the spring of this year along with her horse friend. It was a very emotional and difficult decision for their owners but they were no longer able to care for them and wanted to do right by them. We are very grateful to their owners for seeking help from a rescue instead of other options that could have seen them end up in the slaughter pipeline.

Freedom's Gate took them in and soon it became clear that Monkey was in a lot of pain. They kept her comfortable for as long as they could but they knew she could not face another winter. We are so grateful they took Monkey in, gave her a good summer and cared enough about her to give her the Last Act of Kindness. We are grateful to have been able to support them through our Humane Euthanasia grant.
