Horses don't fear death, they fear suffering, and when they are suffering immense pain that is untreatable, we must do right by them, even if that means giving them the Last Act of Kindness.

This gorgeous boy suffered a catastrophic injury when he was kicked by his mother as a foal. While the breeder had wanted to put him down at the time, someone else took him in and nursed his injuries. He changed hands a few times before eventually coming to New Start Standardbred Adoption. When he arrived it was clear he was suffering immensely. They had him assessed by a vet and learned he could no longer bend at his shoulder. The pain was unmanageable and he was given the Last Act of Kindness.

We do not judge anyone for the choices they made for him along the way. No doubt everyone tried their best to make him happy and comfortable. He was only 9 years old but he would have only suffered more with each passing year.

We are grateful to New Start Standardbred Adoption for helping him in his greatest time of need. We were pleased to be able to provide them with our humane euthanasia grant.
