This sweet little mare, Cindy, was surrendered to Tiny Tales Pony Rescue Society late last year along with her equine friend Andy. They had a very good life with their owner for several years. Sadly their owner experienced some health issues and could no longer care for them.
Cindy was born with a birth defect which eventually led to more pain than she could manage. She had 20 wonderful years and was lovingly given the Last Act of Kindness to ease her suffering. We are so grateful for Tiny Tales for taking in both Cindy and Andy. We were pleased to support them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
Rescues are often at capacity but that doesn't mean they don't want to help. Sometimes it takes a bit of planning and giving them advance notice goes a long way. I know the pain of having to rehome a horse due to health issues. I will forever be indebted to Freedom's Gate Equine Rescue Society for helping me with my darling Lily. Horses are a huge responsibility and they live a long time. But we owe it to them to be responsible horse owners. If you or someone you know has an equine in need of the Last Act of Kindness, reach out for help. Even if your local horses rescue is at capacity, they often still try to do what they can. Our Humane Euthanasia Grant is available to all equine owners across Canada.
Our grants mean so much to horse rescue organizations. It eases the financial strain of veterinary expenses, saving their precious funds for other needs like hay.
