A lifelong bond

This beautiful gelding was lovingly given the Last Act of Kindness at the ripe old age of 27. His owner amazingly had him since she was 13 years. So often horses change hands in a young person's life as their interests change, when they go off to college or university, when they get married, or when any other major life change happens as a young person grows up.

We are so grateful to have been able to support his owner with our Humane Euthanasia grant. We are also incredibly grateful he was able to spend his final years with his person after no doubt giving so much of himself to teach her about horses and riding. Too often older horses who can no longer be ridden are passed along, "free to a good home", or taken to auction to become someone else's problem where they are at high risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. Thankfully this gentleman was given a loving and dignified end befitting the bond he shared with his person.
