Jazz

Rescue is always about individuals stepping up for an animal in need. Sometimes those individuals take things a step further and set themselves up as an organization so they can help more animals and engage community support. Sometimes it is the efforts of a private individual just doing what they can. We salute and honour every person who rescues a horse in need and takes them into their home and their heart. Jazz is one such horse.

Soft Landings of EVF was asked to take in a couple of brothers when their owners were no longer able to care for them. They also had a senior mare, Jazz, who they planned to humanely euthanize because they feared not being able to find her a soft landing. We are grateful they were so committed to her welfare they were willing to give her the Last Act of Kindness. It is part of responsible horse ownership. But Soft Landings took her in too and she was able to enjoy another seven years in their care.

Over the past few months her health began to decline and they knew her time had come. Jazz was over 30 years old, a very good long life for a horse. She was lovingly given the Last Act of Kindness before winter set in. We are so pleased to have been able to support them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
