We are so grateful to the owner of this beautiful percheron mare for loving her enough to do right by her in her greatest time of need. She was adopted from a horse rescue and no doubt as a draft breed had been at high risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. Instead she spent her last few years being adored and cared for. Then every horse owner's worst nightmare came true and she developed colic, a very painful and life-threatening condition. She was given the Last Act of Kindness to ease her suffering, a decision that is an act of love. We are thankful to have been able to provide assistance with our Humane Euthanasia grant.
