Auntie Rosie

Auntie Rosie đź’ž

Rosie found herself at auction in Dawson Creek on a cold winter day in November 2022. She was rescued by 5 Freedoms Ranch Rescue and Rehabilitation along with a group of other horses. She had been a broodmare and was most likely dumped when she could no longer produce any more foals. We are so grateful she was rescued as she was at high risk of being sold into the slaughter pipeline.

Rosie became known as "Auntie Rosie" as she took the the new foals born at the rescue in the spring of 2023. She cared for them all but had a special bond with Tully.

This spring it became very hard for her to maintain weight. She was 37 years old, a very senior horse to be sure. It was time to say goodbye and set her free from her aging body. Rosie was lovingly laid to rest and given the Last Act of Kindness. We were so pleased to have been able to support them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.
