A horse who helped so many

We are so grateful to have been able to support the owner of this very special horse with our Humane Euthanasia grant. He gave so much of himself in his local therapeutic riding program. No doubt he made a difference in the lives of many and will be remembered with great love and affection. But his body became too painful and his vet recommended that he not face another winter.

We are so grateful his owner loved him enough to give him the Last Act of Kindness. Too often working horses who are no longer able bodied are passed along, "free to a good home", or taken to auction to become someone else's problem where they are at high risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. Thankfully this gentleman was given a loving and dignified end befitting the gift he was to so many.
