Elio was a yearling when he was rescued. Sadly he was severely underweight and very sick. Thankfully he was taken in by The Heart of Horsemanship and given the care he so desperately needed. Here is the story they shared about him on their social media.
“Hi everyone my name is Elio. I m a yearling colt. Life wasn’t always easy for me while I loved the time with my mom, it wasn’t long enough. When I was left to fend for myself, i didn’t have the strength needed to keep going. I kept going downhill until luckily Floriane found me. As a growing baby who will one day be a tall grown up horse, I struggled deeply. I was nervous and didn’t know who I could trust but since day one I have tried my best to trust my new friend. She got the doctor out for me twice and phew that was scary! Needles and ultrasounds were not cool! Getting a massage after certainly made me try even harder to trust the people around me because that sure felt great! I was put into an intensive rehab program and with two months of difficult treatments I would like to show my beautiful body to you now. Did you see my cute face!? Some days I still feel very tired but I love my routine and new friends who I one day hope to gallop around with. I will keep working hard every day and don’t worry soon, you will see me be a grown us big horse!”
We are so pleased with his progress and grateful for the dedicated care he received. Once he was strong enough it was time for him to become a good citizen. We are so pleased to have been able to provide them with our Gelding Grant, all thanks to our supporters.
