Vega

Vega is another young colt who found himself at the Westlock auction. Just like Gunner, he was malnourished, underweight, full of worms, covered in lice and in desperate need of farrier care as his back hooves were far too long. Thankfully he too was rescued by Horse Heroes Alberta. And it was especially good news for him as he also had a hernia!

It is so important to have hernias surgically repaired as they pose a tremendous risk for colic. And if the hernia were to ever get caught on something and tore, it would expose the intestines and introduce infection, becoming life threatening very quickly.

Vega underwent surgery to have his hernia repaired and was made a good citizen at the same time. Many thanks to our donors who made it possible for us to be able to provide them with our Gelding Grant.
