Love and devotion

You know that poem we shared the other day, by an unknown author, sharing their love and devotion for their horse throughout its life? Well it could have been written by this handsome gelding's owner.

He was brought home from a cattle sale at only 6 months old for a 14 year old girl. He stayed with her through all the changes life brings. For 32 years they were together. Hard to imagine he was that old looking at his picture. He was very loved and very well cared for.

Sadly he had an experience of choke which led to pneumonia. He was treated for both and even had his teeth done and new feed suitable for a horse in his condition. But the fever never broke and he began to deteriorate. It was a hard decision but they had the comfort of knowing they did everything they could for him. He was lovingly given the Last Act of Kindness. We are so thankful we could support them with our Humane Euthanasia Grant.

No doubt the family is grieving the loss of their beloved horse. We are just so incredibly thankful he had such a good life and that his owner did right by him in his greatest time of need.
