A very loved pony

This much loved pony sadly developed a severe infection in her jaw. She also had PPID (aka cushings), which is known to compromise the immune system. Even with multiple rounds of antibiotics she was not recovering. The only option was surgery but that meant a high risk of her jaw breaking. Even if the surgery would have been successful, there was no guarantee she would recover from it. Her family decided that the best thing they could do for her was to give her the Last Act of Kindness.
She had been with her family for 15 years, almost her entire life. We are so grateful they loved her enough to do right by her and gave her a peaceful and dignified ending. We were pleased to have supported them with our Humane Euthanasia grant. The slaughter pipeline is full of horrors and no horse should have to endure any of it. Thank you to our donors for helping to spare horses from such a fate.
